The Data Engineer will be responsible for integrating and optimizing data solutions across diverse platforms.  This role will be responsible for the transformation of data with our existing on-premise SQL Server Data Warehouse to a cloud-based platform and will play a pivotal role in determining the most efficient use of cloud technologies.  This role will complement our extensive use of data visualization software for reporting and requires a strategic approach to managing and transitioning data systems.  

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable databases utilizing cloud-based technologies tailored to our diverse data needs. 
  • Develop and maintain ETL processes and integrate various third-party data sources with a modern cloud-based platform and/or on premise SQL Server Data Warehouse. 
  • Consult on data visualization software models to evaluate our data architecture and analytics framework. 
  • Advocate for technology solutions that align with the evolving needs of the organization. 
  • Create and uphold stringent data quality and integrity standards while developing and adhering to security protocols and policies to ensure data protection and compliance. 
  • Conduct regular database performance assessments, optimizing both cloud-based and on-premise environments. 
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all database systems, processes, and models. 


Salary and Benefits:

Experience:

  • A minimum combined total of 2+ years of experience working with modern database architecture, administration, and data modeling, including specific expertise in Snowflake cloud-based platform and on-premise Microsoft SQL Server and proficiency with Azure Data Products. 
  • Advanced SQL skills, capable of crafting complex queries, optimizing databases, and managing intricate data structures. 
  • Foundation knowledge of Python, particularly for data manipulation and integration skills. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365, with a focus on consulting Power BI data models. 


Education/Certification/Licenses (preferred):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, or a related discipline is preferred.  Alternatively, five (5) years of progressive experience and relevant Microsoft Certifications, including specific expertise in on-premise Microsoft SQL Server and proficiency with Azure Data Products, are acceptable. 
  • Snowflake certified. 
  • Azure Data Engineer Associate or Microsoft certified.  


Interpersonal Skills:
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperations.  Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communications.

Other Skills:
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage complex projects.
